Myanmar local handicraft aiming to enter global market, according to Tokyo University of Arts and Japan Institute of Design Promotion discussed about modern Myanmar handicraft design to global market and mainly target to Europe and some ASEAN countries. They are now preparing to make a change at materials, techniques and design for quality handicrafts and need to learn about craft trends to improve their international market demands.
Michiko Kamioka ( Project Manager @ Asean-Japan Centre ) said “You must learn … the world trends in the fashion industry, and other ASEAN countries is necessary before starting to
price competition. Each year, the trend of color, you need to keep track of changes so you know … So we, of course, before the first of the world market, the Japanese market will want to sell the cooperation project between Japan and Myanmar and then go globel.”
